| Diane Kaut | Long post – here’s another update and a prayer request. We are so thankful that my surgery went well in September! The doctor only found one lymph node and another small area that had cancer and he took all of it out. My recovery has gone fairly well. I’m doing stretches for my arms and the right is almost back to normal and my left is getting fairly close. I’ve had some stomach issues off and on but it’s been better with a medication I started taking. I’m still having a treatment every 3 weeks for a protein I have and those treatments are going pretty well so far. (These 2 drugs are easier to handle since I’m not having chemo any more.) I’m starting 5 to 6 weeks of radiation today. We would REALLY appreciate prayer that it does what it’s supposed to and doesn’t affect anything else. Also please pray for minimal side effects (and burning) and that the cancer never comes back. We are so thankful that God is taking such good of me and helps me through every every step and every day. We can’t thank you all enough for all the prayers, support, messages, cards, meals and gifts. | TammyMichelsen | Steve is out of surgery and in recovery. His surgery was successful with no complications. He will go to ICU for a couple of days and then to a regular room on the cardiac floor. He will have to be on blood thinners and aspirin for the rest of his life as well as controlling his blood pressure and diabetes but should make a full recovery. | TammyMichelsen | The cardiologist was just in and went over the angiogram results with us. The artery that is 100% blocked is the “widowmaker” however his body has made a natural bypass and another artery is providing blood supply to that one. Because of that his heart function is normal. Praise God! The heart surgeon came in and said testing so far shows he is a good candidate for bypass. As long as the rest of the tests come back ok he will have surgery early next week. | TammyMichelsen | So unfortunately we didn’t get the news we were hoping for. He has blockages in all 3 main arteries. 100%, 90% and 80%. He is going to need open heart bypass surgery. He is having several pre procedure tests done and then we will meet with the cardiothoracic surgeon. I will update as we know more. Please pray for the surgeons and nurses who are taking care of him. | Kay Miller | I am asking that we embrace a new member to New Life and a long time family friend of mine in prayer. Ryan, Breanna, Aubree, Rylee and Madi Meyers are now attending New Life. Ryan and Breanna are mom and dad to the 3 girls. Madi is 4 years old, and has brain cancer. She was in Colorado at Children’s hospital where she did first round of radiation. Now they have moved back here. Madi will be meeting with her new care team and Dr’s at Iowa City on Nov 7th, then again on Nov 16th to see what the next step will be for Madi. The type of cancer Madi has, has a 22% chance of recovery. And of course this is what we are praying for and believing. Just asking for New Life to pray for and embrace this family. | Jean Troxel | My neighbor Debbie had a fire in her home last night that was started by her adult son. He has mental issues and was not taking his medicine and was to believed to be on street drugs. The fire was contained to one room, but there’s smoke damage. May you pray that she gets the help she needs to clean her home to be able to move back in. | Chris Andrews | Update on my friend’s grandson Sam. Sam has had a rod placed in his spine and his collar bone has been repaired. They did a biopsy on a lymph node last Wednesday and he is currently on his way to find out the results. | Michelle Ross | Praise and thank you for praying for my step dad Bill. He continues in hospice but has come through some anxiety and depression that was making things difficult. He stopped treatment of multiple myeloma in June. My mom has good support but is the main caregiver and the cancer is slow acting. Update for my niece Constance. She is now expecting their 2nd baby and ultra sounds detect none of the heart and lung conditions that big sister Lucy battled till the day she was born and then passed away. This is a praise for her and her husband Maxim. Thank you for praying during this month where infant loss awareness is raised. We have many experiencing this in NLC.
